Contemporary American figurative painter
Aaron Westerberg is a contemporary American painter known for his figurative works that often explore the human form through a blend of classical and modern painting techniques. Born in San Diego, California, Westerberg was influenced by the works of 19th-century painters such as John Singer Sargent and Joaquín Sorolla. He studied at the California Art Institute and later at the Jeff Watts Atelier in Encinitas, California, where he honed his skills in drawing and painting from life.
Westerberg's work is characterized by a focus on light and color, with a particular emphasis on the way these elements interact with the human figure. His paintings often feature solitary figures set against minimalistic backgrounds, allowing the viewer to focus on the subtleties of the subject's form and expression. Westerberg has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including shows at the Arcadia Contemporary gallery in New York and the California Art Club's Gold Medal Exhibition. His work is held in private collections throughout the United States.
In addition to his painting career, Westerberg is also an educator, teaching workshops and classes on painting and drawing. He has been a faculty member at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art and has contributed to various art publications, sharing his knowledge and techniques with aspiring artists. Westerberg's approach to painting combines a respect for traditional methods with a contemporary sensibility, making him a prominent figure in the current figurative art movement.
