Dutch 19th-century cityscape painter
Adrianus Eversen (1818-1897) was a Dutch painter known for his detailed and atmospheric depictions of cityscapes and street scenes. Born in Amsterdam, Eversen was a student of Cornelis de Kruyff and later Cornelis Springer, both of whom were influential in shaping his artistic style. Eversen's work is characterized by its meticulous attention to architectural detail and the use of light and shadow to create depth and mood. He often depicted everyday life in Dutch cities, with a focus on the bustling activity of the streets and the intricate facades of the buildings. Eversen's paintings were popular during his lifetime and he exhibited regularly at the Amsterdam Art Society and the Hague Art Society. His work can be found in the collections of several Dutch museums, including the Rijksmuseum and the Amsterdam Museum. Eversen's contribution to the genre of cityscape painting has been recognized as an important part of the Dutch artistic tradition of the 19th century.
