Alberta Ferretti
Italian fashion designer and entrepreneur
Alberta Ferretti is an Italian fashion designer known for her ethereal and romantic designs. Born in 1950 in Cattolica, Italy, Ferretti opened her first boutique at the age of 18. She launched her first collection in 1973 and established her eponymous label in 1980. Ferretti is recognized for her expert draping techniques and use of delicate chiffon, silk, and lace. Her designs often feature intricate detailing such as beading, embroidery, and appliqués.
In addition to her main line, Ferretti has also created the diffusion line Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti. She has been a member of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and her collections are regularly shown during Milan Fashion Week. Ferretti's designs have been worn by numerous celebrities on the red carpet, including Scarlett Johansson, Emma Watson, and Dakota Johnson.
Ferretti has also ventured into the hospitality industry, with the opening of the hotel Palazzo Viviani in Montegridolfo, Italy. In 2016, she was appointed as a member of the Order of Merit for Labour by the President of Italy. Her contributions to the fashion industry have been recognized with several awards, including the Cavaliere del Lavoro honor in 1998.
