Alida Akers is an American painter known for her abstract and landscape works. She was born in 1946 in Pennsylvania and currently resides in Oregon. Akers received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Oregon and has since exhibited her work in various galleries and institutions across the United States. Her paintings often feature bold colors and dynamic brushstrokes, with a focus on the natural world and the interplay of light and shadow. Akers has cited the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest as a significant influence on her work. She has been the recipient of several awards and grants, including a fellowship from the Oregon Arts Commission. Her work is held in numerous private and public collections, including the Portland Art Museum and the Hallie Ford Museum of Art.
