British watercolor painter known for botanical and floral subjects
Ann Mortimer is a contemporary British watercolor artist known for her detailed and realistic paintings of flowers and botanical subjects. Born in 1953, Mortimer studied at the Leicester College of Art and Design and later at the University of Leicester, where she received a degree in Fine Art. Her work is characterized by a meticulous attention to detail and a vibrant use of color, which she achieves through a combination of wet-on-wet and dry brush techniques. Mortimer's paintings often feature close-up views of flowers, with a focus on capturing the delicate textures and patterns of petals and leaves. She has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the UK, and her paintings are held in private collections worldwide. Mortimer is also a popular art instructor, teaching workshops and classes on watercolor painting. She has published several instructional books on the subject, including The Art of Ann Mortimer and Watercolor Flowers. Mortimer is a member of the Society of Botanical Artists and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. Her work has been featured in various art publications, including The Artist and Leisure Painter magazines.
