Street artist
Banksy is an anonymous England-based street artist, political activist, and film director whose real identity remains unknown. Emerging in the late 1990s, Banksy gained notoriety for his distinctive stenciled graffiti art that often carries sharp political and social commentary. His works have appeared on streets, walls, and bridges in cities around the world, from London to New York to Gaza. Banksy's art gained mainstream attention and has even been featured in art galleries, though he maintains a guerrilla approach to creating art, often challenging the boundaries between vandalism and fine art.
The themes in Banksy's work range from anti-war, anti-capitalism, and anti-establishment to more complex and nuanced issues like identity and self-expression.
