French painter
Bernard Buffet was a distinguished French painter and printmaker, known for his Expressionist works that often depicted landscapes, still lifes, and portraits. Born in Paris, Buffet's artistic talent was evident from a young age, and he attended the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts at just 15. His style was characterized by bold lines, stark contrasts, and a somewhat bleak and melancholic tone.
Buffet's work gained significant recognition in the 1950s, and he became a symbol of the existentialist movement in art.
