Bong Joon Ho is a South Korean filmmaker celebrated for his genre-defying and socially incisive films. Born on September 14, 1969, in Daegu, South Korea, Bong has gained international acclaim for his unique storytelling and meticulous craftsmanship. His notable works include "Memories of Murder" (2003), "The Host" (2006), "Mother" (2009), and the Academy Award-winning "Parasite" (2019), which made history by becoming the first South Korean film to win the Palme d'Or at Cannes and the first non-English language film to win the Best Picture Oscar.
Bong's films often explore themes of social inequality, family dynamics, and the complexities of human behavior. His ability to blend humor, horror, and social commentary has made him one of the most innovative and influential directors of his generation.
