Dan Graham
American conceptual artist
Dan Graham was an American artist whose work spanned various media, including performance, video, sculpture, and installation. He is best known for his exploration of the relationship between architectural environments and their inhabitants. His notable works include Homes for America (1966-1967), a photo-essay that critiques suburban housing developments, and Public Space/Two Audiences (1976), an installation that examines the dynamics of spectatorship. Graham's pavilions, which are architectural structures made of glass and mirror, such as Two-Way Mirror Cylinder Inside Cube (1981), challenge viewers' perceptions of space and self. His work often incorporates elements of conceptual art and minimalism, and he has been associated with both the Visual Artists and Various Artists categories.
