American comic book artist and editor
Dick Giordano was an American comic book artist and editor known for his significant contributions to the comic book industry, particularly during his tenure at DC Comics. He began his career in the 1950s, working for Charlton Comics, where he co-created characters such as Sarge Steel and Judomaster. In the late 1960s, Giordano joined DC Comics, where he played a pivotal role in revitalizing the company's lineup by introducing the "DC Implosion" and later the "DC Explosion," which expanded the number of titles published. As an artist, Giordano was renowned for his inking work, collaborating with prominent artists like Neal Adams on Batman and Green Lantern/Green Arrow. He also co-founded Continuity Associates with Adams, a studio that provided artwork for various publishers. Giordano's editorial work included overseeing the launch of the Watchmen series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons and the Crisis on Infinite Earths series by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez. His career spanned several decades, during which he left an indelible mark on the comic book industry through both his artistic and editorial endeavors.
