American pulp magazine illustrator
Earle Bergey was an American illustrator known for his prolific work in the mid-20th century, particularly in the genres of fantasy and science fiction. Bergey's illustrations were prominently featured on the covers of pulp magazines such as Thrilling Wonder Stories, Startling Stories, and Planet Stories. His distinctive style often depicted dynamic, dramatic scenes with scantily clad heroes and heroines, which became a hallmark of pulp magazine art. Bergey also contributed to the burgeoning paperback book market, creating cover art for numerous novels. His work is characterized by its vivid color palettes, attention to anatomical detail, and imaginative compositions. Bergey's influence extended beyond pulp magazines to include contributions to mainstream publications such as The Saturday Evening Post and Collier's.
