To highlight the style's strenghts and features, we run each SREF code through a set of 16 standardized prompts—Midlibrary Benchmark. Each prompt demonstrates how the SREF ”behaves“ in various domains of visual art/applications.
Hipgnosis was a British art design group known for creating iconic album covers for rock bands in the 1970s and 1980s. Founded by Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell, Hipgnosis became renowned for their innovative and surreal designs, often incorporating photographic elements and experimental techniques to create memorable visual experiences.
Hipgnosis's Midjourney style representation features surreal and dreamy compositions with a strong sci-fi and fantasy influence. The visuals are detailed and vivid, often using collage and photomontage techniques to create layered and dynamic imagery. The color palette is characterized by bright blues and earth tones, with contrasting and saturated hues. The compositions frequently include floating objects, large-scale faces, and reflective surfaces, creating a sense of otherworldliness and whimsy. This style draws on 1970s aesthetics and is reminiscent of conceptual art and visual storytelling, often associated with rock music and album cover design.
