Inuyasha is a Japanese anime series based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. The anime adaptation was produced by Sunrise and originally aired in Japan from October 2000 to September 2004, with a second series, Inuyasha: The Final Act, airing from October 2009 to March 2010. The narrative follows the adventures of a half-demon named Inuyasha and a modern-day high school girl, Kagome Higurashi, who is transported to the Sengoku period of Japan. They are joined by several companions as they seek to collect the shards of the Shikon Jewel and prevent the antagonist, Naraku, from gaining its full power.
