Keith Haring
American painter, illustrator, muralist, and social activist
Keith Haring was an American artist and social activist famous for his bold and colorful imagery, which often conveyed messages of social and political activism. After studying at the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh, he moved to New York City in 1978.
Haring's work was heavily influenced by street art and graffiti, and he is considered a key figure in the New York City art scene of the 1980s. His distinctive style featured simple, bold lines and bright, eye-catching colors. His work often tackled themes of social justice, such as drug addiction or the fight against apartheid in South Africa.
Interesting fact: Haring was openly gay and used his art to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. He was involved in many AIDS awareness campaigns, and his art often depicted themes of love, sexuality, and identity.
