Lindisfarne Gospels is an illuminated manuscript gospel book produced around the year 700 in the monastery at Lindisfarne, an island off the northeast coast of England. It is one of the finest examples of Insular art, a style that combines Mediterranean, Anglo-Saxon, and Celtic elements.
