To highlight the style's strenghts and features, we run each SREF code through a set of 16 standardized prompts—Midlibrary Benchmark. Each prompt demonstrates how the SREF ”behaves“ in various domains of visual art/applications.
Magic realism is an art movement that blends realistic elements with magical or fantastical features, creating a world where the extraordinary is seamlessly integrated into the ordinary. Originating in the early 20th century, it has been used in literature, visual arts, and film to explore themes of mystery, myth, and the surreal aspects of everyday life.
Magic realism's Midjourney style is characterized by its dreamy and surreal landscapes, where detailed and painterly techniques create vivid and imaginative scenes. The compositions often feature unexpected juxtapositions and floating objects, set against rich hues and contrasting tones. This style draws on European influences, with symbolic imagery and distorted realities that evoke a sense of whimsy and mystery. The use of textured surfaces and central focus points enhances the ethereal and fantastical atmosphere, reminiscent of artists like Salvador Dalí and René Magritte.
