To highlight the style's strenghts and features, we run each SREF code through a set of 16 standardized prompts—Midlibrary Benchmark. Each prompt demonstrates how the SREF ”behaves“ in various domains of visual art/applications.
Retrofuturism is a cultural movement that explores the themes of past visions of the future, often characterized by a blend of futuristic technology and retro aesthetics. It reflects the optimism and imagination of earlier decades, particularly the mid-20th century, envisioning a future filled with flying cars, space travel, and advanced technology.
Retrofuturism's Midjourney style captures this essence with vibrant, dreamy visuals that combine bold, sci-fi elements with a retro flair. The style features dynamic compositions of futuristic cityscapes and sleek flying vehicles, often rendered in vivid hues and pastel tones. The imagery is characterized by a whimsical and optimistic atmosphere, with influences from vintage sci-fi and pop art. The use of digital illustration and 3D rendering techniques brings to life the imaginative and nostalgic visions of a future that never was, echoing the aesthetics of the 1950s and 60s.
