To highlight the style's strenghts and features, we run each SREF code through a set of 16 standardized prompts—Midlibrary Benchmark. Each prompt demonstrates how the SREF ”behaves“ in various domains of visual art/applications.
Sumi-e drawing is a traditional East Asian art form that originated in China and was later developed in Japan. It involves the use of black ink in various concentrations to create paintings that emphasize simplicity, balance, and the beauty of nature. The technique is characterized by its use of fine brushstrokes and the careful application of ink to capture the essence of the subject with minimal detail.
Sumi-e drawing's Midjourney style representation maintains the core elements of traditional Sumi-e while incorporating a modern touch. The artworks feature a minimalist and abstract approach, using fine brushstrokes and detailed ink wash techniques. The compositions are marked by a balanced use of negative space and asymmetry, creating a serene and contemplative mood. The color palette is predominantly black, white, and gray, emphasizing the contrast and fluidity of the ink. Subjects often include natural elements such as birds, bamboo, and trees, reflecting the traditional themes of East Asian art.
