The history of marquetry dates back to ancient times, with examples found in the Roman world and even as far back as Homer in 700 BC. The technique gained prominence in 18th-century France, where it was used extensively in furniture making. Depending on how a style manifested itself with each prompt, we add 1, 0.5, or 0 points to its total score.
