Israeli illustrator
Asaf Hanuka is an Israeli illustrator and comic book artist, born in 1974. He is best known for his autobiographical comic strip "The Realist," which has been serialized in various publications and received critical acclaim, including a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators. Hanuka studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and later returned to Israel, where he has been a significant figure in the country's comic art scene. He has also collaborated with his twin brother, Tomer Hanuka, on projects like "Bipolar," an experimental comic series.
Hanuka's work is characterized by its sharp wit, emotional depth, and social commentary, often exploring themes related to identity, culture, and the complexities of everyday life. His drawing style is vibrant and highly expressive, making use of bold colors and dynamic compositions. In addition to his comic work, Hanuka has also been a prolific editorial illustrator, contributing to publications like The New Yorker, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.
