Bridget Riley is a British artist best known for her pioneering work in the Op Art movement, which explores optical illusions and the dynamic effects of geometric forms. Born in London in 1931, Riley gained international fame in the 1960s with her black-and-white compositions that create a sense of movement and depth, challenging the viewer's perceptions. Her work often consists of simple shapes like lines, squares, and circles, but their arrangement and repetition create complex visual effects.
Over the years, Riley has expanded her palette to include color, further complicating the optical effects of her work. She has received numerous awards and honors, including the Praemium Imperiale for painting, and her work has been exhibited in major institutions worldwide, such as the Tate Gallery in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
