American Impressionist painter
Charles Courtney Curran was an American painter known for his depictions of women in various outdoor settings, often characterized by their luminous quality and attention to natural light. He studied at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League in New York, and later in Paris at the Académie Julian. His works, such as Lotus Lilies and On the Heights, frequently feature women in pastoral landscapes, capturing the interplay of light and shadow. Curran was a member of the Cragsmoor Art Colony and exhibited extensively, including at the National Academy of Design and the Paris Salon. His paintings are held in numerous public and private collections, reflecting his significant contribution to American Impressionism.
