To highlight the style's strenghts and features, we run each SREF code through a set of 16 standardized prompts—Midlibrary Benchmark. Each prompt demonstrates how the SREF ”behaves“ in various domains of visual art/applications.
Color field painting is a style of abstract painting that emerged in the 1940s and 1950s, characterized by large fields of flat, solid color spread across or stained into the canvas, creating areas of unbroken surface and a flat picture plane. It is closely associated with abstract expressionism and post-painterly abstraction, emphasizing color as the primary means of expression.
Color field painting's Midjourney style representation features vibrant and bold color fields with smooth transitions and layered depth. The compositions often include broad horizontal bands and soft edges, creating a dreamy and expansive atmosphere. The rich hues and saturated tones evoke a sense of fantasy and surrealism, reminiscent of landscape-inspired themes. This style employs an oil-like texture, enhancing the emotive and harmonious qualities of the artwork, drawing inspiration from mid-20th century American art movements.
