Top 10 Styles for Kids (+ their parents!)

This week we added new illustrators, children's books authors, and new techniques to the Library. And here is my pick of the TOP 10 styles from that update that are fantastic for children-related art!

Elsa Beskow

Elsa Beskow

Elsa Beskow (1874-1953) was a Swedish author and illustrator. She is best known for her children's books, which often feature whimsical and fantastical elements, as well as her unique and charming illustrations.

Beskow's work is heavily influenced by the folklore and traditions of her native Sweden, as well as the Art Nouveau movement. Her illustrations are characterized by their bright colors, imaginative themes, and intricate details.

Added to a Midjourney prompt, Elsa Beskow's name brings adorable pictures, with lots of flowers, plants, and animals, with a delicate color palette, and a great sense of style.

Akira Toriyama

Akira Toriyama

Akira Toriyama (b. 1955) is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known for creating the popular manga series "Dragon Ball" which was serialized from 1984 to 1995. He is considered to be one of the most influential and successful manga artists of all time.

Toriyama's work is primarily in the shonen genre, which is aimed at young boys and features action, adventure, and humor. He is known for his clean, bold lines and vivid character designs, as well as his imaginative world-building and inventive use of science fiction elements.

Toriyama's name used in *--niji* style brings out bright and detailed images, vibrant colors, and interesting characters.

Charles Vess

Charles Vess

Charles Vess (b. 1951) is an American artist and illustrator, best known for his illustrations in comic books and graphic novels, as well as his work in the fantasy and mythology genres.

He is famous for his imaginative and detailed illustrations, as well as his ability to create captivating storytelling through his images. Vess's work is heavily influenced by classic illustration, the Art Nouveau movement, and the storytelling traditions of folklore and myth.

Charles Vess's name added to Midjourney prompts brings to life images full of rich colors and intricate details.

Shaun Tan

Shaun Tan

Shaun Tan (b. 1974) is an Australian author, illustrator, and filmmaker best known for his illustrated books, including "The Arrival," "Tales from Outer Suburbia," and "The Red Tree."

He is famous for his ability to create imaginative and haunting imagery, often combining elements of fantasy and surrealism with a strong sense of storytelling.

Tan's name added to Midjourney prompts brings weirdly attractive and unique images, surrealistic and captivating. Yet another Library staff's favorite!
