Alice Bailly
Swiss painter
Alice Bailly (1872–1938) was a Swiss avant-garde painter known for her eclectic style that incorporated elements of Cubism, Fauvism, and Futurism. Born in Lausanne, Switzerland, Bailly studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva before moving to Paris, where she became part of the city's vibrant artistic community. She gained recognition for her innovative techniques, including "wool paintings," a unique form of textile art that involved layering colored wools on canvas to create textured compositions.
Bailly's work is characterized by its bold use of color, geometric forms, and a willingness to experiment with different materials and techniques. Her paintings often feature landscapes, portraits, and still lifes, executed with a sense of dynamism and abstraction.
