Bill Watterson
American cartoonist
Bill Watterson is an American cartoonist best known for creating the iconic comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes," which was syndicated from 1985 to 1995. The comic strip follows the adventures of a young boy, Calvin, and his stuffed tiger, Hobbes, who comes to life through Calvin's imagination. Watterson's work was notable for its wit, humor, and keen observations on human nature, as well as its refusal to conform to the commercial norms of the comic strip industry. He resisted merchandising his characters and maintained a high level of artistic integrity throughout the strip's run.
Watterson is a reclusive figure who largely withdrew from public life after the end of "Calvin and Hobbes," but his impact on the world of comics and popular culture is immeasurable.
